Top seed Daniil Medvedev beat second seed Andrey Rublev 7–5, 6–4 in the Hangzhou Open singles final on Tuesday, 29 September, at the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Expo Center in Hangzhou, China, for his 24th tour-level title (Wikipedia Hangzhou Open 2026; Tennis Majors; Sportschau). Hangzhou is an ATP 250 outdoor hard-court event (ATP Tour). The match lasted about 1 hour 33 minutes; Medvedev converted 2 of 7 break points and hit 23 aces to Rublev’s 4, while Rublev failed to convert either of his 2 break chances (Tennis Majors). Medvedev now leads their head-to-head series 8–2. Both had set the final with straight-set semi-finals on Monday, 28 September: Medvedev beat fellow Russian Roman Safiullin 7–5, 6–4 for his 350th hard-court victory at tour level, the fourth most among active men, and Rublev beat France’s Kyrian Jacquet 7–6(0), 6–1 in 81 minutes for his 400th tour-level win, becoming the ninth active player to reach that mark (ATP Tour; Tennis Now). Rublev, who won Bastad earlier this season, was bidding for his 19th title (ATP Tour). In the doubles final already completed, Francisco Cabral and JJ Tracy beat Sander Arends and David Pel 7–5, 6–4 (Hangzhou Open results / Wikipedia).
An ATP 250 is a mid-tier week on the Association of Tennis Professionals calendar, one rung below the Masters 1000 tournaments and well below the four Grand Slams; outdoor hard courts are paved acrylic surfaces, typically faster than clay (ATP Tour). A break point is a chance for the returner to win the server’s game; an ace is a serve the returner does not touch. Tennis Majors timed the final at 1 hour 33 minutes and credited Medvedev with 69 total points to Rublev’s 61, plus 48 of 67 points behind his own serve (Tennis Majors).
Medvedev, seeded No. 1 and ranked No. 6 entering the week, had not faced Rublev since the 2023 season-ending Finals; their prior series stood at 7–2 for Medvedev before Tuesday’s win pushed it to 8–2 (ATP Tour; Wikipedia Hangzhou Open 2026). Wikipedia lists the tournament’s third edition at the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Expo Center from 23–29 September, with Medvedev as singles champion and Cabral/Tracy as doubles champions (Wikipedia Hangzhou Open 2026). Sportschau’s final board showed Medvedev taking the match in two sets, 7–5, 6–4 (Sportschau).
Monday’s semi-finals had set up the all-Russian title match. Tennis Now reported that Medvedev broke Safiullin in the 12th game of the first set after a Safiullin double fault on set point, then recovered from being broken in the opening game of the second set before closing it out; Medvedev called the match “fun” and said he was happy Safiullin is coming back from injury (Tennis Now). Rublev, ranked No. 25 and seeded No. 2, won the first-set tiebreak against Jacquet 7–0, took the final 11 points of that set, broke for 2–0 and 4–0 in the second, and dropped only 11 points on serve en route to becoming the ninth active player to 400 tour wins (Tennis Now). A tiebreak is the first-to-seven shootout, win by two, when a set reaches six games each.
Rublev’s Bastad title earlier this season remains his lone trophy of 2026; Medvedev’s Hangzhou win is his 24th tour-level title and followed earlier 2026 finals including Brisbane and Dubai titles and a runner-up finish at Indian Wells (ATP Tour). Portuguese reports timed the Cabral/Tracy doubles victory over Arends/Pel at 1 hour 25 minutes; it was Cabral’s seventh career doubles title and his first with American partner Tracy, after Cabral won Hangzhou in 2025 with Lucas Miedler (RTP / Lusa; A Bola).
